Love on the Spectrum stars Abbey Romeo and David Isaacman have reportedly broken up. For fans of this series, this report absolutely lands like a sucker punch to the gut. As Abbey would say, “It’s very interesting, but I’m not interested” in accepting this rumor.
For all four seasons, David and Abby shared a supportive, loving relationship. As Abbey shared, sometimes even through song, David was the lion to her lioness, and the milk to her Chardonnay. Yet, the whole purpose of this series is to help adults on the spectrum navigate the extremely complex world of dating. So, if these two stars were not meant to be, then their fans, including this writer, will ultimately have to respect their decisions.
That said, to date, neither David nor Abbey has publicly confirmed their split. Well, minus one report that David did speak out, but his alleged comment has since disappeared from the internet (more on that down below). However, the signs were all headed in this direction, both online and in their brief appearances in the Season 4 finale. Begrudingly, here’s everything we know.
Love on the Spectrum’s Abbey Romeo and David Isaacman were the Netflix show’s longest-running couple
In the first season of Love on the Spectrum, we met Abbey. She loved Candy Crush, water parks, zoos, lions, and princesses, while, understandably, hating villains. In her past, Abbey “dated a boy named Garrett in high school,” and she “loved it,” but they had different interests. Specifically, Garrett liked History, which Abbey was pretty indifferent to.
Abbey’s first date in Season 1 took her to a wildlife learning center in San Diego. Here, Abbey met David. David was an excellent match, since he also liked “lions (and being in a car wash).” Also similar to Abbey, David did not like the bad guys in “horror movies (or clowns).”
Their connection was apparent. So was their support of each other’s emotions, as seen in Episode 4, when David encouraged Abbey to “be brave” while feeding a lion. When they returned in Season 2, they, alongside their families, traveled to Kenya for a safari. Here, Abbey sang, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” making fans fall even more in love with their relationship.
In Season 3, Abbey presented David with yet another song. This one was an original, called “Boyfriend Forever.” As she sang, David and their families grew emotional. Not shockingly, these two were still going strong at the end of Season 3, which made them the longest-running couple on Love on the Spectrum.
Abbey spoke about marriage during Season 4 of the Netflix reality series
Abbey and David did not appear as full-time daters in Season 4. Instead, they only made a brief appearance in the finale. When they appeared, their love was still intact. However, tiny cracks were starting to form.
During Season 4, Tyler White emotionally proposed to his cowgirl princess, Madison Marilla. To celebrate, their families threw them an engagement party down in Lake Wales, Florida. For this special event, they invited several of the OG Love on the Spectrum stars, including David and Abbey. So, during the finale, we finally saw Abbey again, and when we did, she had just received their invitation in the mail.
Before Abbey saw their invitation, however, she told her producers that she and David were still together. Even still, they were not quite ready to get married. But as soon as Abbey saw Tyler and Madison’s engagement party invite, Abbey admitted, “I wanna be a bride so badly.” Then, when David and his suitcase arrived on her doorstep, Abbey greeted him and said, “Hopefully, we’re next!”
But in response, David calmly stressed, “Yes, we can only be engaged whenever the time is right.” Then, Abbey’s mother recalled how Abbey caught a bouquet at a previous wedding, so she is bound “to be a bride one of these days.” Similing, Abbey said, “Sounds great.” Meanwhile, David stood at her side, not saying anything for roughly ten seconds before Abbey changed the subject, letting him know that her dog “Clementine has anal issues.”
Rumors suggest David wasn’t ready for marriage, but Abbey was

Once Abbey and David arrived in Florida, everything went swimmingly. But after this season finally aired on Netflix, rumors began to swirl, suggesting that they had since parted ways.
“Sadly, it’s true that David and Abbey broke up,” an insider alleged. Unfortunately, when it all came down to having a wedding of their own, “She was ready years ago. He still needed time.”
Another source on David’s end agreed. “They did break up, but he is doing very well,” this insider asserted. As of yet, neither David nor Abbey has confirmed this rumor.
That said, on Reddit, one person revealed, “A fan of the show sent David a DM asking if [he] and Abbey were still together. David confirmed that they’ve gone their separate ways. I saw the screenshot of the DM.” Making this claim feel pretty solid, underneath, another Redditor mentioned that they also saw this receipt from David, and that in his comment, David “said something along the lines of ‘unfortunately Abbey and I have decided to separate.’”
Further backing up this narrative, as yet another fan noted, Abbey and David “haven’t posted anything together since December … No Valentine’s Day post together when they’re known to be very romantic.”
Whatever happened here, we wish Abbey and David our best.
Love on the Spectrum is streaming on Netflix.
