Season 12 of Married to Medicine might be over, but we’re still mentally recovering from that extra shady reunion. In case you missed it. Toya Bush-Harris and her husband, Dr. Eugene Harris, came under fire from multiple directions, but most of that heat came from Steve Sanders.
The former NFL player clocked in, ready to defend his wife, Dr. Mimi Sanders. He went on multiple tirades aimed at Eugene, throwing shade left and right. But how did Toya feel seeing her man land in the hot seat? Proud!
The M2M Season 12 reunion was must-see reality TV
We recently caught up with Toya and learned about her new partnership with INTENNSE, a high-energy, team-based tennis league. During our conversation, she made it very clear that the drama with “that Mimi couple” felt a little too severe to settle over a friendly game of tennis.
At the reunion, both onstage and backstage, Steve sparred with Eugene and accused him of wanting to be “one of the women.” He called him “Eugene Bush” and complained about feeling singled out at the Med Gala.
The shade was serious, and Toya admitted that Eugene felt a little unsettled after it all happened. He felt like, for the first time, people were coming for him. It didn’t feel like the usual “back and forth with friends.”
Toya said, “I felt so bad for him because over 12 years, that’s what he was trying to say, it’s never been that for the men, and he didn’t get closure.”
However, Toya didn’t see everything that transpired until she watched it on TV. When she saw her man in action, she realized he got all of the closure that he needed.
“I was so proud of him,” Toya gushed.
She continued, “He was very professional, and I told him that you have to realize that when you are in the heat of anything, remember who you are. And he remembered exactly who he was. He’s a physician, he’s educated, and he’s a man that people respect.”
While the husbands usually sit on the sidelines, this reunion flipped the script, and not necessarily in a good way. Still, Toya made it clear she wouldn’t change a thing about how Eugene handled the situation.
“I told him I had nothing. No feedback. You were perfect in that scenario, and we can’t be mad at other people for hating the life that you have and wanting to argue with you like you’re on the streets somewhere,” Toya concluded. “We don’t do that.”
Married to Medicine is streaming on Peacock.
