Prince William’s Gesture Left Ex-Prince Andrew Moved — Author

Prince William’s gesture reportedly moved ex-Prince Andrew last year. A royal author recently opened up about how the Prince of Wales allegedly reacted to his uncle losing his title.

In October 2025, the 66-year-old was stripped of his royal titles and duties. Furthermore, he had to vacate his forever home, Royal Lodge, after staying in the Windsor estate for over two decades. After his downfall, William had allegedly called his uncle, and Andrew was reportedly “very touched” by this gesture.

Prince William reportedly called ex-Prince Andrew to offer his “condolences” for losing his royal titles. The former Duke of York was stripped of his titles and duties due to the ongoing large-scale controversy. Per Page Six, author Robert Hardman talked about the interaction in his new novel, “Elizabeth II: In Private. In Public. The Inside Story.”

He claimed that William called Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. This gesture seemingly “touched” the former prince very deeply because William was “one of the few people” who got in touch with him after the major changes.

Aside from losing the titles, Andrew was also evicted from his Windsor estate, Royal Lodge. Furthermore, he moved to the Sandringham estate allegedly to keep a low profile. However, his arrest in February made things difficult for the monarchy.

He was taken into custody for 11 hours on suspicion of misconduct in public office. At the time, King Charles released a statement, expressing his “deepest concern” over the incident. He emphasized showing their support and cooperation with the investigation.

Earlier, a report claimed that William was against Andrew’s lavish lifestyle after the latter lost his title. A source said that, reportedly, the 43-year-old’s “tolerance” for his uncle’s situation after he was evicted was “almost non-existent.”

“He looks at the way his uncle continues to live and sees it as a direct affront to the standards the monarchy is supposed to uphold. In William’s mind, the era of indulgence should have ended the moment Andrew lost his royal roles,” they told RadarOnline.
