Practicing safe sex will be a little more costly these days. Donald Trump is reportedly the one to blame for a rise in the price of a popular condom brand. The war in Iran has caused Karex to raise its prices on its products.
The company claims that their supplies have incurred major disruptions due to the Iran crisis. As a result, their production costs have reportedly gone up. That means customers will have to pay a little more for the time being.
Karex supplies global brands including Durex and Trojan

Sexually active people with no desire to procreate may now be among those urging the President to end the Iran crisis. Karex supplies some of the biggest condom brands worldwide, such as Trojan and Durex. Their customers will pay at least 30% more for those products, and in some cases, possibly more. Karex’s chief executive, Goh Miah Kiat, told Reuters that their costs have risen greatly since the Iran conflict began.
Numerous costs have reportedly risen due to the war in the Middle East. Oil prices have taken a hit in the US this month, as has the price of gas, according to reports. The President, however, said earlier this month that the surging oil prices were the fault of the Iranian regime.
Iran’s response to US and Israeli air strikes has significantly disrupted oil supplies. There have been threats to target the Strait of Hormuz. Because of this, the waterway has effectively been closed, with significant disruptions to global supply chains. It’s estimated that about a fifth of the world’s crude oil and liquefied natural gas passes through that strait. That includes petrochemical products.
Karex says that it relies on oil-derived materials to manufacture its condoms. That includes ammonia, which preserves latex as well as silicon-based lubricants. They have reportedly also incurred higher freight costs and shipping delays. Demand for condoms has allegedly gone up by 30% this year.
