David Cross Jokes RFK Jr. Has ‘Never Nude’ Syndrome

David Cross thinks that there are a lot of similarities between his Arrested Development character, Tobias Fünke, and the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The actor compared the offbeat character to the controversial politician, claiming that he may have “never nude” syndrome.

David Cross jokes about RFK Jr. being similar to his character

David Cross, the actor who portrayed Tobias Fünke on Arrested Development, claimed that there were many similarities between the absurd character and the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Notably, Fünke suffered from “never nude” syndrome, something Cross believed RFK Jr. could also relate to.

Speaking to The Daily Beast’s Obsessed: The Podcast, Cross spoke about the disorder, which is based on a real psychological condition called gymnophobia.

“I think a guy who works out in his jeans is weird. That’s weird,” Cross said, “He’s already weird. He was weird way before he entered public office.” This was a reference to Kennedy’s habit of wearing jeans while working out.

Moreover, in February, RFK Jr. took a cold plunge alongside Kid Rock, but still sported a pair of jeans during this activity.

“The thing you have to remember is, Tobias Fünke is deeply disturbed and deluded, and not especially bright. So in that way, sure, it’s relatable,” Cross continued.

The actor made this comparison after host Matt Wilstein brought up a theory that has been circulating online that Kennedy could secretly be a “never nude” like Tobias.

Kennedy previously explained why he wore jeans during strenuous activities in an episode of “The Bossticks” podcast. “I just had a busy schedule always, so I would go hiking with my dogs in the morning, and then I would go straight to the gym in my jeans, and it was just a convenience to work out. And then when I was campaigning, a couple of people took pictures of me in the gym wearing jeans, and I don’t know. Then I just got in too deep,” he said.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. remains a controversial figure in the United States.
