Donald Trump Faces Backlash For Women’s Tennis Player Photo

The latest photo of Donald Trump posing alongside Georgia Bulldogs women’s tennis players has sparked massive backlash. Many took to the comment section to criticize the photo composition. It observed the president and a group of older men, overshadowing the championship-winning team. Moreover, Trump also delivered a speech for both the NCAA men’s and women’s teams during their visit to the White House.

Margo Martin, special assistant to the president and communications advisor, recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the celebration at the White House of the Georgia Bulldogs women’s tennis team. In the photo, Trump could be seen standing at the front alongside a group of older men. Behind them, the women’s team could be seen lined up. Many criticized that the photo composition appeared to be focused way more on the men at the front than on those for whom the picture was taken. The caption further congratulated the women’s team.

Several users took to the comments section to criticize the president for overshadowing the champions. A user said, “I can barely see the women… This is embarrassing, and the image is a great visual representation of the Republican Party’s attitudes towards women.” Another wrote, “If that doesn’t perfectly represent how Trump and republicans feel about women, I don’t know what does! Good job, guys.” A third one added, “It’s women, but make it all about the men.” Other reactions also included, “What happened to keeping men out of women’s sports?” “I’d say that can’t be real, but it probably is,” and “Men to the front, the honored women to the back. Classic Trumpism. Sort of like his cabinet.”

During the speech at the White House, Trump took a moment to praise Sophia Rojas and the team for getting their third 2025 NCAA Women’s Tennis title. “Sophia Rojas sealed this team’s incredible victory, losing the first set before roaring back to dominate the next two and clinch Georgia’s sweep over Texas A&M. And all I can say is, ‘Go Bulldogs.’ That’s a great state, I love that state. Did very well there, too, in the election. You know, I only like the states that I win. So, it’s one of those,” he said, referring to the win while also briefly speaking about his election performance in the team’s state.
