Simone Ashley’s Versace Micro Minidress Hangs by Just 2 Strings

There’s something deliciously ironic about wearing archival Versace to a “The Devil Wears Prada 2” photocall, as Simone Ashley recently did. It’s all things fashion, referencing fashion, power dressing wrapped in nostalgia, and a look that knows exactly what it’s doing. This was undoubtedly iconic. After all, she stepped out in a micro minidress, which was fashion at its perfection.

Simone Ashley stuns in Versace micro minidress hanging by just 2 strings for ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’

Keeping up with her reputation for fashion fabulousness, Simone Ashley stepped out in a barely-there micro minidress for “The Devil Wears Prada 2” photocall. This bold choice was quite literally hanging by two delicate straps. Furthermore, it was pulled straight from Versace’s Spring/Summer 2016 runway. However, the original version leaned fully into sheer sensuality, styled for the catwalk with that signature unapologetic Versace attitude.

For Ashley’s gasp-worthy look, though, the story shifted. The transparency was dialled down for the red carpet, but the intent? It clearly stayed fierce, fabulous, and fixated. Further, the dangerously short, slinky slip dress managed to cling just enough while letting the structure (or lack thereof) do all the talking. It was also thoroughly decorated with green embellishments with a snake print across the fabric, like controlled chaos. Frankly, this ended up adding texture and movement to something that otherwise felt almost weightless.

Ashley’s pick is the kind of dress that looks like it could fall apart at any second, and that’s exactly the appeal. Honestly, what really made Ashley’s version stand out was the restraint. No overstyling, no competing drama. Just sleek hair, minimal jewellery, and heels that quietly supported the whole look instead of fighting it. So, where the runway leaned into overt sensuality, she quietly leaned into precision. This is less a “look at me” touch and more a “you will look anyway” vibe. And honestly, even her makeup was perfect, and that’s very Miranda Priestly-coded.
