The odds of Donald Trump possibly getting impeached, in this term, have witnessed a spike in the betting market. Trump has been impeached twice in his term as President. For the first time, he was impeached in 2019 after being charged with abusing his power. In 2021, he was impeached for the second time in relation to the January 6 Capitol riot.
Donald Trump’s odd of impeachment skyrocket in betting market
The betting market is seeing a spike in the chances of Donald Trump getting impeached this year.
According to a report by The Mirror, Kalshi and Polymarket show that a higher percentage of users believe Trump will be impeached by the end of this term. On Polymarket, the odds based on data through April 27 show that nearly 65% of people believe Trump will be impeached by the end of this term.
On the other hand, on Kalshi, the data till April 27 suggests that more than 68 percent of users are sure that Trump will get impeached during this term.
Moreover, when asked whether Trump will be impeached before 2027, bettors on Polymarket believe only 16 percent are sure this will happen. On Kalshi, these numbers go down to 13 percent. The talk of Trump’s impeachment has increased in Congress as Democrats are calling for it amid the war between Iran and the United States.
The Democrats have been doing so since Trump sent threats to Iran on Truth Social. Based on a report by PBS, the Democrats have been pushing for Trump to be impeached through the 25th Amendment. Furthermore, in his letter to Democratic leaders in Congress in early April, Hakeem Jeffries said, “We will continue to unleash maximum pressure on Republicans to put patriotic duty over party loyalty and join Democrats in stopping the madness.”
