Donald Trump recently announced plans to renovate the reflecting pool near the Lincoln Memorial. However, many users on X (formerly known as Twitter) don’t seem happy with the US President meddling with the DC monument. Trump, in an address from the Oval Office, also stated that the project might cost around $1.5 million to $2 million.
Internet is not happy with Donald Trump’s new decision on renovation
Donald Trump announced in a video post on Truth Social that he is working on renovating the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool.
He said in the address, “‘It’s filthy, dirty. The water is disgusting-looking. It’s not representative of the country. Right now, it’s got no water in it because it was in terrible shape. It was filthy, dirty, and it leaked like a sieve for many years. So I actually went over, went with Secret Service and a group of people, and I took, took a look at it.”
After this announcement, a photo of the pool being renovated was posted by Doug Burgum, interior secretary. In the post, he wrote, “Renovations are underway! Thank you, @POTUS, for investing in our capital. The Reflecting Pool is about to look better than ever!”
However, many users on X don’t seem happy with the project. One user called out the decision and posted, “We are Trillions of dollars in debt and you all think the American people want our tax money spent on this s**t instead of helping the average worker in America? WTF is wrong with all you out of touch, don’t have to worry about anything politicians?”
Another user commented, “The fact that a single moment was spent on this with everything else going on is entirely insulting. WW3 starting and this MF redesigning the pool.”
A third user commented, “How ’bout you guys figure out how to lower gas prices and the overall cost of living!!”
