Sydney Sweeney’s Wardrobe Malfunction in Euphoria S3 Was ‘Intentional’

Sydney Sweeney once again caught the attention of viewers in the new episode of “Euphoria season 3. In the said episode, there was more than a single instance of a wardrobe malfunction. “Euphoria” costume lead Natasha Newman-Thomas has now revealed that the malfunction was entirely intentional, as they did not tape in her wedding dress, leaving open the possibility.

Costume designer reveals Sydney Sweeney’s wardrobe malfunction reason

“Euphoria” season 3 costume lead, Natasha Newman-Thomas, revealed in a recent interview with InStyle that the numerous wardrobe malfunctions that were seen throughout Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) and Nate’s (Jacob Elordi) wedding were intentional.

In the sequence, Sydney Sweeney wore a custom corseted gown designed by Jackson Wiederhoeft. Newman-Thomas revealed that the wardrobe malfunction happened in the dress rehearsal, too, but they decided to embrace the mishap.

“Sydney kept having nip slips,” Newman-Thomas said to InStyle, “And I was like, ‘Okay, we’re not going to tape her in. We’re going to embrace it.’ And I was like, We’re going to make custom pasties out of the same hand-beaded fabric and embrace the nip slip because that’s so Cassie.”

One particular dramatic instance towards the end of the episode caught a lot of attention. The lead designer explained that the dress and mishaps were a reflection of “Cassie’s psychology.” She added, “And we really wanted her to feel special. And I wanted to make the most beautiful, sexy wedding dress with just the slightest touch of tackiness because it’s Cassie.”

So far, “Euphoria” season 3’s storyline has been quite controversial, especially the part involving Cassie. In the new season, Cassie has embarked on an OnlyFans career and even used the earnings to sponsor a part of the wedding. Sweeney’s costumes in the earlier episodes, including one where she seemed to emulate a baby, received massive backlash online.

The first three episodes of “Euphoria” season 3 are now streaming on HBO Max.
