There’s another tragic loss in the world of Hollywood. Jaqueline Falk has died at the age of 60. You would probably know her best as the daughter of Peter Falk, who portrayed the title character in the 60s and 70s crime drama Columbo.
Peter was twice nominated for an Academy Award and posthumously received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2013. He died of Alzheimer’s and pneumonia in 2011. Jaqueline was one of two adoptive daughters Peter had with his wife, Alyce Mayo, during his life.
Jaqueline Falk hung herself in Los Angeles this week

Jaqueline’s life came to an end under shocking circumstances. TMZ reports that she hung herself at her Los Angeles home on Monday. The Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the sad news. It’s unclear if she left a note behind.
Her death comes just over two months after another Hollywood star lost a child. Martin Short’s daughter, Katherine, also died of suicide in February. Many of the comedian’s shows were cancelled in the wake of that tragedy, leaving the comedian reeling.
Jackie’s adoptive father made a name for himself as an exceptionally observant homicide detective on Columbo. In addition, his character was well known for leaving the room, only to turn around and say, “Just one more thing,” before asking a critical question to try to crack a case. He earned numerous awards for his work on that show, including an Emmy and a Golden Globe.
In 2011, Peter died at his longtime home in Beverly Hills. His daughters said following his death that they’d always remember his “wisdom and humor.” The likes of Jonah Hill, Steven Spielberg, Stephen Fry and the late Rob Reiner all paid tribute to him following his passing. Peter was 83.
