Taylor Swift talks about fan’s behaviour she doesn’t like

Taylor Swift discusses fan behavior she doesn’t like in the New York Times’ new profile on the 30 Greatest Living American Songwriters. The pop singer admitted that while she is immensely grateful to her devoted fanbase, fans go into overdrive, analysing who she has penned the song for.

Swift explained, “There’s corners of my fanbase who are gonna take things to a really extreme place. There’s nothing I can do about that. There’s people who are gonna try to, like, do detective work, figure out the details — who is that about? What is this?”

Furthermore, the singer confessed that it gets “weird” when a certain section of Swifties treats it like a “paternity test.” Swift remarked, “When it gets a little bit weird for me is when people act like it’s a paternity test. Like, ‘This song’s about that person.’ Because I’m like, ‘That dude didn’t write the song, I did.’ But that’s part of it.”

However, the “Lover” crooner confessed she has learned to make peace with it and treat it as a part of her fame. “You have to hold tight to your perception of your art and your relationship with it and then you kind of have to (gestures the action of blowing it out). There it goes. Hope you like it. And if you don’t now, hope you do in five years, and if you never do, then I was doing it for me anyway,” Swift added.

Fans are aware that the Grammy winner has been in several high-profile relationships over the years. This includes Harry Styles, Jake Gyllenhaal, Joe Jonas, Joe Alwyn, and Matty Healy. Fans on the internet have dissected her famous songs’ lyrics, wondering which ex-boyfriend they refer to (via PEOPLE). Swift is currently engaged to Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and she dedicated the songs “Opalite” and “Wood” to her fiancé.
