Kim Kardashian revealed that one particular fashion decision from her 2022 Met Gala appearance still bothers her years later.
The reality star and SKIMS founder reflected on the headline-making look while preparing for the 2026 Met Gala. Kardashian famously attended the 2022 event wearing Marilyn Monroe’s iconic Jean Louis gown, which the Hollywood legend wore while singing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy in 1962.

Although the dress itself sparked massive conversation at the time, Kardashian admitted her biggest regret had nothing to do with the outfit. Instead, she said she still thinks about the hairstyle chosen for the event.
“I think about it once a week,” Kardashian admitted in a TikTok video shared May 8.

During the TikTok clip, Kardashian sat alongside longtime makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic and hairstylist Chris Appleton while discussing the famous Met Gala appearance. The trio joked about the beauty choices tied to the controversial fashion moment.
Dedivanovic recalled Appleton bringing up the makeup from the event before redirecting the conversation toward the hairstyle instead.
Kardashian’s hair had been dyed platinum blonde for the occasion to resemble Monroe’s signature color. However, rather than recreating the actress’s iconic curled bob, Kardashian wore her hair slicked back into a tight bun.
According to Kardashian, the team avoided copying Monroe’s hairstyle too closely because people warned she could end up looking like a wax figure version of the late actress.
Still, the Hulu personality now believes a more classic Marilyn-inspired hairstyle would have elevated the entire look.
“It was all about the hair,” Kardashian said in the video. “I’ll fight you on that until the day I die.”
She later pulled up photos of Monroe’s voluminous curls and admitted the hairstyle “would have been iconic.” Kardashian also jokingly blamed the hectic preparation process, saying her glam team had too much happening at the time because they were styling multiple Kardashian family members for the event.
Later in the clip, Kardashian noticed Vanity Fair had coincidentally featured her Marilyn-inspired Met Gala look in a roundup of defining pop culture moments. Even so, she still admitted she wished she had chosen curly hair for the night.
