President Donald Trump appeared confused at a recent press meet and repeatedly mixed up former presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama while trying to blast the Democrats on their handling of international conflicts.
In a viral moment, the US president attributed the killing of 13 US officers while evaluating from Afghanistan to Obama, when in fact, the incident happened under Joe Biden’s presidency.
Donald Trump had some missteps with Obama and Biden while attacking Democrats
“He’s lost 13 people,” the president remarked, “Obama. 13 very good people that I got to know their families,” he added. He was, in fact, referring to the Abbey Gate Bombing at Hamid Karzai International Airport in August 2021, where 13 U.S. service members were killed during evacuation from Afghanistan. In reality, it was Biden, and not Obama, who was in office at that time.
Trump is not new to verbal gaffes and confusion. Reportedly, he repeatedly confused the two Democratic presidents during the 2024 campaign trail, including eight times within just a few months, Forbes claims.
When his repeated mistakes raised concerns about his fitness for running the office, he came out on Truth Social to say that he was “sarcastically” inserting Obama’s name for Biden, “as an indication that others may actually be having a very big influence in running our country.”
Just last week, the president mixed them up again, this time in the opposite way, while speaking to reporters on Air Force One. He had said, “President Biden was an incompetent president. He gave us the Iran nuclear deal, which allowed Iran to have a nuclear weapon.” Here, he blamed Biden for the nuclear war, which was actually championed by Obama.
Trump has also been heard mixing up Greenland with Iceland, following which White House Press Secretary rushed to clarify on social media that he had “referred to Greenland as a piece of ice” and had not made a blunder as the press were trying to report.
As Donald Trump’s verbal gaffes become more and more common, concerns about the 79-year-old’s mental health and probable dementia continue to dominate the liberal political discourse.
