The answer is: this temporary Jeopardy! host has a new gig? The correct question: Who is Mike Richards? The executive producer for numerous long-running game shows, including the previously mentioned one, is joining a right-wing media outlet. Mike will serve as President for The Daily Wire.
Going forward, Mike will serve as editor and chief content officer for the publication, including all of its operations. Mike had been out of the spotlight for years after resigning as Jeopardy! host in 2021.
Mike Richards returns to a high-profile media leadership role
He’s back in a new prominent position. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Mike’s appointment, which comes shortly after Jeremy Boreing’s departure.
Jeremy stepped down as CEO of The Daily Wire in March but could soon be working out of their Nashville headquarters. A representative of the company, Gloria Taylor, sang Mike’s praises.
“He’s (Mike) won 5 Emmys, produced over 4,000 hours of network programming, and run some of the most iconic shows the world has ever known.” In addition to Jeopardy! Mike has also worked on Wheel of Fortune and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
Following Alex Trebek’s passing in 2020, Jeopardy! auditioned numerous guest hosts on the program before selecting Mike on a permanent basis. The same month that he got the hosting gig, though, some offensive comments that he had made resurfaced.
Mike discussed wrongful termination and sexual harassment lawsuits made from models on The Price is Right. Mike had also been an executive producer on that show. When his quotes got out, Mike quit as host of Jeopardy!.
After leaving, Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik initially shared hosting duties. Eventually, Ken got the job as a full-time host and still has it to this day. The game shows Mike was previously involved in have won numerous Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Game Show.
Among the scandals Mike was alluding to on The Price is Right was the show’s models, known as Barker’s Beauties. Many of them have spoken out about alleged bad behavior on the set during Bob’s days as host.
