Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce once again found themselves dominating social media conversations after making a high-profile appearance at the NBA Eastern Conference Finals. The couple attended the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks matchup courtside, instantly drawing attention from fans inside the arena and online. But while many expected the spotlight to stay on their romance, the internet quickly became fascinated with Swift’s long-discussed history with the Knicks. Old interviews, resurfaced quotes, and fan reactions suddenly reignited what many are now calling her “Knicks fan girl era.”
Taylor Swift’s Knicks fan girl era goes viral after her courtside debut with Travis Kelce
On Saturday, Swift and Kelce were spotted sitting courtside during Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Knicks. Videos shared online showed the couple arriving together at Rocket Arena before taking their seats near the court. Swift opted for a relaxed look with wide-leg jeans and a black jacket, while Kelce leaned into hometown pride by wearing a Cavaliers cap.
Even though Kelce has long been vocal about his love for Cleveland sports, fans online quickly pointed out that Swift may have had different loyalties in the arena. Social media users flooded NBA clips with comments reminding others that the singer had previously admitted to being a Knicks supporter. “Taylor’s a Knicks fan,” one commenter wrote, while others referenced old interviews discussing her connection to the team.
The conversation appears to stem from a 2014 interview Swift gave shortly after moving to New York City. During a conversation with TIME, she reportedly shared that she had a soft spot for the Knicks because of former player Amar’e Stoudemire and his wife, whom she described as some of the friendliest people she met at the Met Gala.
“I’ve always had this sort of love of the Knicks, just because Amar’e is so cool,” the “Lover” singer said at the time. She also reflected on performing at Madison Square Garden as a child, saying the experience left her with a “sparkly, magical opinion” for both the venue and the team.
Whether Swift still actively supports the Knicks remains unclear. Kelce, after all, appeared fully invested in cheering for Cleveland during the game, even standing up and celebrating key moments from courtside. Still, the internet seemed eager to revive Swift’s “Knicks fan girl era” after the outing.
