Days after the news of the cancellation of his Italy show broke, Travis Scott claimed that he plans to perform at a full-fledged concert in Turkey. Last weekend, the “Sicko Mode” hitmaker made an appearance at an Istanbul club, which left fans craving for more.
Travis Scott gives Turkey fans an update on a concert
According to a report by Complex, fans were neither happy with the length of Travis Scott’s performance in the club nor the exorbitant ticket prices. Taylan Ozcan, a chief executive for TemaCC, credited as the event’s promoter in Turkish media reports, defended Scott. Per an AFP report, Ozcan told Turkish media that the rapper had been “at the heart of the event” for the entire evening. “He hosted the party for an hour… then he gave an exceptional performance for 20 minutes,” the executive said.
The 35-year-old took to his Instagram Stories on June 1 to address the backlash, claiming that he planned to return to Turkey for a proper concert. He wrote, “Tooo all the da ragers in turkey I’m only came to host a party for a friends BIG day can’t wait to actually come back and perform forreal especially after seeing how turnt bro show looked. Can’t wait to see the ragers in turkey some time sooon.” He signed off, writing, “Sincerely, Flame.”
Scott was scheduled to perform at the RCF Arena in Reggio Emilia on July 17, as part of the Hellwat Festival. However, in a statement, the prefecture for the province of Reggio Emilia, Salvatore Angieri, announced the cancellation of the concert along with Ye’s concert. The decision came after a meeting of Italian officials to “ensure public order and safety.”
In 2021, Scott headlined a performance at the Astroworld Festival in Houston, where a crowd crush tragically claimed the lives of ten people. The incident sparked widespread scrutiny and placed the rapper at the center of a major controversy over public safety.
