Anthony Joshua says he was told to ‘remove’ Jake Paul from boxing
Anthony Joshua reportedly shared that he received an instruction to “remove” Jake Paul from boxing. The 36-year-old boxer made the shocking revelation on the Mr. Verzace Podcast. Joshua dished, “There was a strict message that was given and a task that was laid upon me, and that was to get rid of Jake Paul, remove him from our beloved sport, which is boxing. Whether that took me one round, whether that took me six rounds, I believe the job was well and truly done. I definitely delivered.”
The clip has gone viral on X and has, unsurprisingly, garnered 16K likes at the time of writing. One user cheekily quipped, “Saying he received a ‘strict message’ to deal with him sounds like boxing’s version of being handed a classified assignment.” A second user commented, “Man said ‘strict message’ like the boxing gods personally sent him on a mission. Job done AJ, that jaw ain’t the same. Paul got what he asked for.”
However, a few fans jumped to Paul’s defense. One fan penned, “Boxing would be nothing without Jake Paul. You don’t have to like the guy but you can’t deny he’s done more for boxing than anyone has in the last 20 years. Jake Paul is the face of boxing.” Another fan wrote, “Boxing is more relevant with Jake Paul so he needs to wisen up with his words.”
The duo last competed against one another in a high-octane heavyweight boxing match at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, on December 19. Notably, Joshua knocked out Paul in the sixth round of the fight. The British boxer roughly punched Paul, resulting in a broken jaw.
