Charli D’Amelio has officially stepped back from her role at the family-owned popcorn brand Be Happy Snacks. The business was launched in 2023 and involved Marc and Heidi D’Amelio and their daughters Dixie and Charli D’Amelio.
Be Happy Snacks has lost Charli D’Amelio as a member of the family business amid speculation of a rift
Charli’s departure comes with speculation of a rift with the family over finances. The 21-year-old TikTok star sparked speculation when she unfollowed her parents on Instagram, where she has a massive following.
Charli also alluded to her mental state when she appeared online with a photo of herself crying, which was captioned “I’ll be back dancing later. I’m depressed, leave me alone.” Though the family has confirmed that Charli is no longer involved in “day-to-day operations.” In addition, Father Marc has expressed that the rumours are false and his daughter is being manipulated.
“This is not true. We love Charli, but she is being manipulated, and I have the receipts. Over the last six years, we have remained silent and never addressed gossip, but the time has come to set the record straight,” Marc said, defending his family against any allegations of injustice done to his daughter.
Marc further explained that the business was never about the money; rather, “It was always just about having this crazy awesome experience with my family, and that’s it.” He added that when it came to business interests, he had always wanted to “protect” his daughters.
Charli rose to fame as TikTok’s biggest star in 2020 at age 15 with her viral dance videos on TikTok, quickly becoming the platform’s most-followed creator with over 150 million followers. She has since expanded into a successful career across multiple ventures, starring in the hit Hulu reality series The D’Amelio Show, releasing music, landing major brand deals (including with Dunkin’ Donuts and Hollister), and becoming a successful entrepreneur.
