Donald Trump‘s heated press exchange with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins has earned him the label of a “misogynist” from the hosts of the talk show, The View. During the June 3 press briefing in the Oval Office, Trump launched into a tirade about Collins’ demeanor, which has earned him significant backlash.
‘The View’ hosts criticize Donald Trump for his remarks towards CNN’s Kaitlan Collins
Donald Trump took shots at CNN’s chief White House correspondent, Kaitlan Collins, turning a policy question into a personal attack against her. “Never smiles. A young, beautiful woman. Never smiles. I never see a smile on her face. I see her standing there with hatred in her eyes,” he said of Collins’ appearance.
Trump also declared that her “hatred” stemmed from her disapproval of the government’s administrative policies. He said, “She has hatred because we have borders, because we have a strong military, because we cut our taxes, because we do things that everybody wanted.” Collins appeared unfazed by his remarks as she repeated her question about “the anti-weaponisation fund.” She has since responded to his attack in Wednesday’s episode of The Source.
The clip has since gone viral and attracted scrutiny from many. The hosts of The View and Kara Swisher also expressed their views on the US President’s remarks. Whoopi Goldberg praised Collins, saying, “She handled herself very well.” Then she asked why he had behaved the way he had with the journalist. She added that the administration seemed to have a problem with women and was trying to “remove” them from their positions.
Legal affairs analyst, Sunny Hostin, replied, “Misogyny. Maybe he’s a misogynist. I mean, I think we all know that. And what what I took umbrage at is that, “She never smiles.” Men are never asked to smile, never asked. But I in my career, when I was practicing law, was often told you should smile more, which is an unbelievable thing.” She went on to say that Collins’ colleagues should have told the president that the way he spoke to her was unacceptable.
