Donald Trump‘s alleged falling asleep moment has resulted in Marco Rubio facing backlash. On Friday, a viral video captured the president seemingly dozing off during an Oval Office briefing. It came after a day in which Secretary of State Marco Rubio defended the 79-year-old politician to California Rep. Ted Lieu. The latter accused the president of napping in public, but Rubio claimed he had never seen Trump sleep.
Marco Rubio’s comments on Donald Trump falling asleep claims revisited over viral moment
Marco Rubio denied that Donald Trump was taking public power naps, but a viral moment suggested otherwise. On Thursday afternoon, the president attended an announcement on “Beautiful, Clean Coal” in the Oval Office. Other politicians, including Energy Secretary Chris Wright, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, and EPA administrator Lee Zeldin, were also present. When one of them was speaking while standing behind Trump’s chair, the president was reportedly dozing off.
Moreover, the video of his seemingly shut eye became viral on social media. Many took a jab at the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, for his comment just a day ago. “Someone needs to share this video with little Marco Rubio,” a user tweeted.
Earlier, on Wednesday, Trump’s napping in public became a part of a heated discussion between Rubio and California Rep. Ted Lieu. The latter played a clip as evidence of the president seemingly dozing off during an important briefing. Despite the video, Rubio claimed that he has never witnessed Trump sleeping in public.
“On the contrary, the guy doesn’t sleep, which is a big problem, ’cause he calls me at 2 in the morning, he calls me at 5 in the morning,” the Secretary of State said. “I like to sleep a little bit, maybe not 12 hours, at least six. The other day he was at the Oval Office at 12:30 a.m,” he added. Meanwhile, the next day, the politician was captured allegedly napping during an Oval Office announcement.
