Frankie Muniz tried to keep his split friendly. The internet had other plans. The actor deleted his original divorce announcement after viewers criticized the dancing family video he used to share the news. The update put Frankie Muniz back in a breakup conversation that quickly moved from amicable to controversial.
What happened after Frankie Muniz announced his split
According to PEOPLE, Frankie Muniz removed his first announcement video after public reaction turned harsh. The original post showed Muniz, Paige Price Muniz, and their 5-year-old son, Mauz, dancing together while confirming the end of his marriage. The Malcolm in the Middle star later shared a different post without the same video. However, the caption still explained that he and Paige had privately separated before deciding to move forward with divorce.
The Frankie Muniz divorce video drew attention because of its upbeat tone. Muniz had captioned the clip, “Who says you can’t stay best friends with your baby momma?” Some viewers found the approach strange, while others praised the former couple for keeping things peaceful.
Paige then stepped in to defend him. Under the new post, she wrote, “Frankie, I am so sorry that you felt the need to delete an old fun video of our family because people are so cruel to you.” She also pushed back on the backlash more directly. “Divorce is bad, sure — it’s not like we’re excited about it,” she wrote, adding that they are “two adults who know how to be on the same team.”
Entertainment Weekly previously reported that Muniz thanked Paige for supporting him and said they plan to keep building Muniz Racing together. The former couple also said their son remains the center of their world.
For now, the Paige Price divorce backlash seems to have turned the announcement into a bigger story than the split itself. Still, both Muniz and Paige appear focused on co-parenting rather than online judgment.
