An old scary moment from a Hollywood film set has come back to light, thanks to Olivia Wilde. The actress recalled a near-fatal accident she experienced while shooting for Cowboys & Aliens. She said a co-star of hers played a big role in preventing a tragedy.
The actress recalled how Walton Goggins shielded her from a horse stampede while filming Cowboys & Aliens
As per a report by Rolling Stone, Wilde recalled the incident on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast. She reflected on experiences throughout her career, including this one where she was part of a horrifying accident involving dozens of horses. According to Wilde, Walton Goggins saved her from serious harm by making a split-second decision at the right time.
“Walton Goggins saved my life on that movie,” Wilde said. She explained how the pair were shooting for an action sequence along with Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig. All of them, along with several other riders, charged across the desert at high speed for a scene.
Wilde recalls how her horse suddenly jumped over a large ditch. This sudden movement threw her out of the saddle. She hit her body against the ground and fell behind a big mound of dirt. Meanwhile, just behind her, all the other horses were charging directly towards her.
“I thought, ‘It’ll be quick,'” Wilde said, thinking back to that moment of sheer terror. She was afraid the approaching stampede would reach her any moment before anyone could help. Dust kicked up into the air, making it difficult for others to realise that she had fallen.
But Goggins noticed this accident almost immediately. Goggins immediately turned his horse in a way to directly shield her. His horse effectively blocked the stampede and protected her body from other horses that continued to run forward.
This horse stampede story shocked the podcast host Dax Shepard. Wilde mentioned that other cast and crew members continued riding because they did not realise she had fallen. She keeps crediting Goggins for saving her during this dangerous incident during the filming.
