Prince William is seemingly putting on a brave face. Behind the scenes, however, a new report claims the ongoing rift with Prince Harry continues to take an emotional toll on him. The Prince of Wales is said to avoid publicly dwelling on the family fallout. However, insiders allege the situation remains far from resolved. The latest claims have emerged as the brothers once again found themselves in London at the same time, yet reportedly made no effort to meet.
Prince William reportedly doesn’t want Prince Harry to know how all this affects him
Prince William has seemingly made an effort to avoid showing Prince Harry how deeply their fractured relationship still affects him. The future king rarely speaks publicly about his younger brother. Now, one insider claimed his silence should not be mistaken for a lack of emotion.
“William doesn’t want to give Harry the satisfaction of knowing how much this is bothering him,” the source said. The insider alleged that William has intentionally tried to create the impression that he does not pay much attention to Harry and Meghan Markle or the headlines surrounding them (via Heat Magazine).
Behind that public image, however, the situation is said to be very different. “Anyone in his world will tell you that’s absolutely not true,” the source added. According to the insider, William remains “tormented” by the strain the ongoing feud has placed on the family.
The source also claimed that William’s frustration is rooted in more than just the brothers’ estrangement. Per the report, he believes Harry’s approach to reconnecting with the family has only made matters more complicated. As a result, the insider suggested that William has found it difficult to move past the years of tension.
The insider added, “What rubs him and others the wrong way is how Harry is going about getting it, and the fact that he’s toying with His Majesty’s emotions while he’s in the middle of battling cancer. It’s just cruel as far as William is concerned.”
Reports have suggested the relationship between the brothers began to deteriorate well before Harry and Markle stepped away from royal duties in 2020. Previous claims alleged that William had concerns about Harry’s relationship with Markle during its early stages.
The latest developments have only reinforced that perception. On July 7, the brothers attended separate engagements just miles apart in London. Even so, reports indicate there are currently no plans for a reunion during Harry’s U.K. visit.
