Life away from the cameras is reportedly proving difficult for Courteney Cox. According to new claims, the “Friends” actor has quietly split from longtime boyfriend Johnny McDaid following more than a decade together. While the separation is said to have remained amicable, insiders allege the emotional impact has been far from easy. A report claims Cox is now grappling with heartbreak and reflecting on the years she invested in the relationship.
Courteney Cox is reportedly wondering if she ‘wasted’ the last 13 years of her life
Reports suggest Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid quietly parted ways after being together for nearly 13 years. The couple, who last appeared publicly at the US Open in September, have reportedly ended their relationship shortly afterward. Although the split has reportedly been amicable, insiders claim it has been emotionally difficult for the actress.
One source alleged that Cox has been wrestling with feelings of disappointment in the weeks following the breakup. “[She’s] devastated,” the insider told Closer. According to the source, Cox has also been wondering if she “wasted nearly 13 years of her life waiting on commitment that never came.”
The report goes on to suggest that those close to the “Scream” star had long questioned whether the relationship would ultimately last. “Everyone told her for so long she was beating a dead horse,” the insider said. They further claimed that many believed McDaid was “too much of a free spirit” to fully commit. Even so, the source alleged Cox remained hopeful that things would eventually change.
Their relationship had already survived one major setback. In 2015, the pair reportedly ended their engagement after their first couples therapy session. Cox later recalled the experience during an appearance on Minnie Driver’s podcast. There, she said she was blindsided when the relationship ended almost immediately. “We went to this therapist to talk about our boundaries,” Cox said at the time. “Instead, he just broke up within the first minute.”
Still, the breakup eventually led to personal growth. Looking back, Cox said she became “thankful” for the experience because it helped her “reclaim her voice” and establish healthier boundaries. The pair later reconciled in 2016, but according to the latest report, long-standing issues allegedly remained unresolved.
Despite the reported heartbreak, Cox has kept herself busy professionally. She is currently finishing post-production on her true-crime film “Evil Genius” while continuing to expand her lifestyle brand, Homecourt.
