Shia LaBeouf and FKA Twigs are back in a legal dispute. The actor has responded to the singer’s latest court filing, asking a judge to move the matter out of public court and into private arbitration.

Shia LaBeouf is pushing back in his ongoing legal dispute with FKA Twigs. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the actor argued that the singer should resolve their latest dispute through private arbitration rather than in a public courtroom.
The current dispute centers on a nondisclosure agreement connected to their earlier settlement. FKA Twigs, whose legal name is Tahliah Barnett, filed a new lawsuit in March 2026 challenging parts of that agreement. She argues that the NDA is unenforceable under California law.
LaBeouf, however, maintains that the settlement agreement requires both parties to resolve disputes privately. TMZ stated that he accused Barnett of making “inflammatory and irrelevant accusations” in her latest filing. He also argued that she is attempting to continue criticizing him publicly through court documents.
The latest legal filing follows years of litigation between the former couple. Barnett first sued LaBeouf in 2020, alleging sexual battery, assault, and emotional distress during their relationship. In his legal filings, LaBeouf denied several of the allegations.
The original case did not go to trial. According to the AP News, both parties reached a private settlement in 2025, and the details remained confidential. At the time, their attorneys issued a joint statement saying both parties wished each other well and wanted to move forward separately.
The latest dispute is narrower in scope but remains significant. As per a report by Variety, Barnett’s March filing seeks a court order declaring portions of the NDA unenforceable, arguing that they violate California’s STAND Act. Her attorney said the case is about “justice and law, not money.”
For now, the legal dispute has shifted to a question of venue. If the judge rules in LaBeouf’s favor, the matter could move behind closed doors through private arbitration. If not, the case will continue in public court.
Either way, the legal dispute between Shia LaBeouf and FKA Twigs is not yet over.
