Donald Trump has once again expressed his desire to receive a Nobel Peace Prize. The president reiterated the wish while flying back from a recent NATO summit in Turkey. The statement comes shortly after he lifted the ceasefire with Iran and bombed the country again.
Donald Trump made the Nobel claim aboard Air Force One after calling off the Iran ceasefire
Donald Trump spoke with reporters aboard Air Force One while flying back from a NATO summit in Turkey. During the press brief, the president reiterated his claim that he should win a Nobel Peace Prize for settling eight wars.
“I would say I should have won that award more than anybody that ever received the Nobel Peace Prize,” Trump said. “Because nobody settled wars. I settled eight of them. Because I have a certain type of personality, I was able to settle them.”
Trump has made the same complaint multiple times in the past. Most recently, during his speech at Mount Rushmore during America’s recent 250th anniversary, the president stated, “Americans have won the most Olympic medals of any country in the world by far, the most Nobel Prizes. Well, they haven’t given me one.”
Trump’s latest lament about not receiving the Nobel Prize comes shortly after he called off the fragile ceasefire with Iran and launched a fresh set of military strikes on the country. According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the U.S. bombed “approximately 80 Iranian military targets” on Tuesday, July 7.
The statement also confirmed, “U.S. forces struck approximately 90 Iranian military targets, including air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, naval capabilities, and military logistics infrastructure along Iran’s coastline. The latest strikes follow the successful execution of offensive strikes in Iran the night before.”
During a press conference in Ankara, Turkey, on Wednesday, Trump issued another threat to Iran. He said, “They hit a couple of ships, and so we hit them much harder. When they hit, we hit 10 times harder; you know, we hit much harder than they do.”
