According to TMZ, Ariana Grande and Ricky Alvarez have rekindled their romance. Sources close to the situation told the outlet that the pair is dating but are taking things slow. On July 7, the “Break Free” hitmaker’s source told PEOPLE that the two spent the Fourth of July weekend in Florida with her family. “She’s having a great time on tour,” the source said. They continued that Grande “loves having close friends join her for parts of the tour.”
The source further explained, “Ricky has always been a friend and confidant. She really trusts him.” They added, “He has such great, positive energy, makes her laugh and she enjoys spending time with him.” PEOPLE also reported yesterday that the pair aren’t willing to rush things. A source told the publication that they are “taking things very slowly.” They continued, “Ariana has always considered Ricky a friend. She’s not held ill will against him [since their split].”
Reportedly, Alvarez “is dependable, trustworthy and very supportive,” and Grande “feels she can be herself around” him. Moreover, the “Wicked” star loves how “funny” the professional dancer is and that the two “have a similar, smart, dry sense of humor.” However, the two are reportedly enjoying the slow pace in their romance. “They’re not jumping into anything serious right away, but Ari is happy to have him back in her life,” the source stated.
Besides the Brooklyn show, Grande also changed “Thank U, Next” lyrics at her June 24 and June 26 shows. On June 24, the 33-year-old sang, “Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now they kinda slap.” Two days later, she changed it again to “Wrote some songs about Ricky/ I know he still got my back.”
