Leven Rambin opens up about a harrowing medical emergency and recovery

The Grey’s Anatomy actress posted on TikTok and Instagram that she underwent endometriosis surgery to determine if she had the condition and to remove any potential adhesions. She said she suffered from pain and wanted to boost her fertility before starting a family. During the laparoscopic surgery, the doctors mistakenly nicked her aorta near her belly button. They had to immediately do emergency repair surgery and transfuse blood to save her life.

Rambin said she woke up in the intensive care unit with people telling her she was lucky to be alive. She wrote in an Instagram post that she did not know she would be leaving the hospital with an emergency surgery and a scar as long as her forearm. She also said that the road to recovery will be long but that she is determined to heal and continue her dream of having children. Rambin added, “Oh how I love being a woman,” with a sarcastic emoji in the caption.

The Grey’s Anatomy actress is now back home, but she admitted recovery is tough. She shared that she has severe back pain, body soreness and nausea. She revealed that the long recovery forced her to drop out of a production she was slated. Rambin spoke about being very close to losing her life during the procedure. She joked that her future child “better be” worth everything she went through before reminding fans that she currently takes many medications.
