Prince William & Kate Middleton’s Rare PDA Moment Turns Heads

Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s recent public display of affection has garnered attention. They attended a charity polo game on Friday, July 10, where William even played. The event was intended to raise money for causes and charities supported by the Welsh royals. This time, it was expected to raise over $20 million.

Prince William and Kate Middleton share a kiss during polo outing

Prince William played at a charity polo game as his wife, Kate Middleton, watched him from the sidelines. Following his team’s victory, the couple engaged in a series of affectionate moments. These included a kiss, holding hands, and giving a supportive touch. There are no such royal rules that suggest how much PDA a couple could display. But in the Prince and Princess of Wales’ case, they have remained more formal during prominent royal events, avoiding showcasing much affection.

Royal etiquette expert Myka Meier previously told PEOPLE that interactions between royal couples are subject to public scrutiny. She said, “Senior members of the royal family would likely not be told how to interact or when they can or cannot show PDA and would be trusted to use their better judgment as to when it’s appropriate.”

This isn’t the first time the royal couple has showcased a little more affection than usual. It has happened several times in recent years. For instance, in March 2025, they attended the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. There, they leaned in closer, shared laughs, and exchanged affectionate glances. At the time, royal expert and biographer Ingrid Seward spoke to PEOPLE about how the couple feels now after navigating a difficult period following Middleton’s cancer diagnosis.

“They are happy for people to see them be touchy-feely. They’re in a different phase of their life now. William is very protective and very proud of her for coming through this and carrying on with her life,” she said.
