Kai Trump shared an encouraging update about her mother, Vanessa Trump, as the former model continued her breast cancer treatment. The 19-year-old revealed that her mom was recovering well after surgery while making a red carpet appearance at the 2026 ESPY Awards in New York City.
The update came just weeks after Vanessa disclosed that she had undergone surgery and was preparing to begin the next phase of her treatment. Her health journey has drawn support from family members and loved ones since she announced her diagnosis earlier this year.
Kai Trump said her mom Vanessa is “doing better” as she continues recovering from surgery
While attending the ESPY Awards, Kai briefly spoke about her mother’s condition. According to Page Six, she said, “My mom’s doing good,” before adding, “She’s doing better.”
The outlet reported that Kai appeared upbeat during the event, where she wore a gold gown before speaking about the advice she received from two of the biggest names in her life. She said her grandfather, President Donald Trump, encouraged her to “Enjoy every moment of it. It’s going to be rocky, but enjoy every moment of it,” as she prepared to continue her golf career at the University of Miami. Kai also shared that Tiger Woods, who has been dating Vanessa since early 2025, told her to “Be yourself, trust the process.”
Vanessa first revealed her breast cancer diagnosis in May through an Instagram statement. She wrote, “While this isn’t the news anyone expects, I’m working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan,” adding, “I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me.”
A month later, Vanessa shared another health update, revealing she had undergone surgery. She wrote, “Over the past four weeks, I’ve been recovering from surgery, and I’m grateful to be healing and moving forward,” before adding, “Soon, I’ll be starting the second stage of my treatment.”
Kai had publicly supported her mother following the diagnosis by posting a heartfelt Instagram tribute that read, “Strongest person I know. Love you.”
Meanwhile, Page Six previously reported that Woods had remained by Vanessa’s side throughout her treatment. A source told the publication, “He’s proud of how positive she’s stayed and how she’s handling everything so far,” adding, “She’s been so strong and he truly believes she’s going to be OK. He’s just trying to support her however he can right now.”
Vanessa was previously married to Donald Trump Jr., and the former couple shared five children together before divorcing in 2018.
