Gilded Age Star Cynthia Nixon Prepares to Set World Record

Cynthia Nixon is preparing to trade the glittering drawing rooms of The Gilded Age for a wedding aisle unlike any other. The actor will officiate Bride Pride, a mass ceremony that hopes to enter the record books.

Cynthia Nixon is set to officiate a massive all-women wedding ceremony called Bride Pride

Bride Pride announced that Nixon will serve as its “Reverend-for-the-Day” when the event takes over St. Petersburg, Florida, on Feb. 21, 2027. The ceremony will close Winter Pride St. Pete, a weeklong celebration of LGBTQ+ community and visibility.

Organizers want at least 100 couples to marry or renew their vows. The Bride Pride website says reaching that number could qualify the ceremony for recognition by Guinness World Records as the largest all-women wedding and renewal event.

The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in St. Petersburg’s Grand Central District. Couples seeking a legal marriage must obtain a Florida marriage license, while married pairs can return to renew their vows.

Nixon will not just lead the vows. Bride Pride’s FAQ page says she will also sign the marriage licenses after the ceremony. Registration costs $150 per couple, with an additional license fee for those getting married.

The event’s history adds another layer to the record attempt. Bride Pride began in Provincetown after founders Ilene Mitnick and Alli Baldwin invited other women to join their vow renewal. The idea grew into two ceremonies that drew women from across the United States and beyond.

The actor continues to balance advocacy with her television career. She will return as Ada Brook when The Gilded Age Season 4 arrives this fall.

Bride Pride needs enough couples to reach its target, so the record is not guaranteed. However, Nixon’s involvement has already given the ceremony a spotlight. For the couples taking part, the day will offer more than a world record. It will give them space to celebrate commitment, community and LGBTQ+ love.
