Kim Kardashian’s recent carousel ended up inviting backlash on social media. She appeared to be joined by her boyfriend, F1 star Lewis Hamilton, on the trip. On Thursday, Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner, informed fans of the passing of Mary Jo “MJ” Shannon.
Around the same time, the SKIMS co-founder added pictures from her summer vacation, captioned, “lake life.” Netizens soon began trolling Kardashian for the post, with one saying, “Girl, what about your grandma!?” Another one said, “Kim…. There’s people that are dying…..” A third user commented, “Kim sweetie your grandma just died.” However, she took notice of the criticism and provided her stance in the comments, revealing the post was scheduled in advance, before her grandma’s death.
“This post was scheduled a few days ago before we lost MJ, so its timing came right alongside her passing,” she said. “I’ve been by my mom and grandma’s side this past week, and my heart is completely with my family right now.” Kardashian concluded, “We love and miss her so deeply, and in the days ahead, we’ll be focusing on celebrating her beautiful life.” Right after, she posted a tribute to her grandmother.
“My sweet Grandma MJ, my best friend, my gossip buddy, my forever twin, ” she wrote. Kardashian shared that her grandmother showed her “what it meant to be a hardworking businesswoman.” She continued that Shannon gave her the first job at her San Diego store and taught her about work ethic. Kardashian also called her grandma her “safe place” and the true “matriarch” of the family. She concluded, “I know you are up in heaven, looking at all of our Instagram posts of you from your sneaky finsta account you would always use lol.”
