Democratic strategist James Carville held nothing back in his latest takedown of President Donald Trump. The veteran political commentator questioned the president’s understanding of key political ideologies on his podcast.
James Carville calls out Donald Trump amid latest attack
Democratic strategist James Carville criticized President Donald Trump on his Politics War Room podcast Wednesday. Carville claimed the 80-year-old president does not understand the distinction between socialism and communism. The strategist called Trump “too f**king stupid to know what he’s talking about.”
Trump has recently labeled political rivals “communists” as more Democratic Socialists win elections. New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic Socialist, won his race last November. Trump met with Mamdani at the White House following the election results.
Carville broke down the distinction between the two political systems on his podcast. “Understand, socialism is an economic system,” Carville said. “Communism is part of the economic system, also a political system.” He added, “I don’t think Trump knows the difference. I really don’t. I think he’s that stupid.”
The 81-year-old strategist also argued Trump “has no idea of history.” Carville pointed to Scandinavian nations as examples of successful socialist democracies. Those countries “are really democratic countries [and] have a lot of really, really successful business,” he explained.
Carville also predicted Trump would leave office before his term ends. “This guy, by Easter of 2027, is just going to walk away from this job,” Carville said. He attributed this prediction to potential midterm election losses for Republicans. Democrats currently hold about a 6 in 10 chance to retake the House, according to Decision Desk HQ.
Carville has regularly targeted Trump on various issues through his podcast in recent months. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the remarks.
