While speaking on NewsNation’s Jesse Weber Live, Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman made an unexpected comment about D4vd. He said the rapper’slegal team remains free to submit a plea offer before trial, although prosecutors would only consider an agreement they believe serves justice for the victim’s family.
However, he emphasized that any offer would need to deliver justice to the 14-year-old victim, Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s family.
Hochman said, “Whether or not David wants to come forward with some offer, David and his counsel are free to make an offer. Unless an offer is made that we think… obtains justice for the Hernandez family.”
However, he also indicated that the prosecutors are not actively seeking to negotiate a resolution and would only accept if it serves justice.
The rapper, David Anthony Burke, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, according to Radar Online. He also faces charges for lewd acts involving a minor and mutilation of human remains that are connected to the death.
The rapper was arrested in connection with the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The 14-year-old victim’s remains were found in the trunk of a Tesla registered in Burke’s name.
Hochman stressed that prosecutors are prepared to take the case to trial unless the defense presents a plea proposal that satisfies the interests of justice. D4vd’s legal team has not publicly responded to his comments.
