90 Day Fiancé’s Chuck Potthast Dead at 64 After Brain Cancer Battle

Sad news from the 90 Day Fiancé universe. Chuck Potthast, the father of Elizabeth Castravet, has passed away at 64 following a battle with brain cancer. She and her husband, Andrei Castravet, shared a post on Instagram announcing the news, and their family is shaken following the loss.

Chuck Potthast’s family is “completely shattered” following his death

“Two weeks ago, tragedy struck our family and it has left us completely shattered,” Elizabeth wrote in the caption of a family picture on Sunday, November 23.

“My sweet, loving, and caring dad went to heaven. We’re trying to figure out how to navigate our lives and move forward without him. Please respect our privacy during this extremely difficult time,” she continued.

Chuck suffered from glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer with no known cure. On 90 Day, he spoke about his previous struggles with bladder cancer and encouraged Elizabeth and her siblings to resolve their conflicts. He told them that he didn’t survive cancer just for his family to fall apart on TLC.

In September, Chuck shared a health update from a hospital bed after undergoing hernia surgery. The procedure wound up taking much longer than expected, but he thanked 90 Day Fiancé fans for their prayers and support.

“My surgery was supposed to be about three to four hours long to fix hernias from my previous cancer operations that had developed. Once they got in there, they seen that my stomach wall had completely collapsed, so they had to fix that, which they did,” Chuck explained in the Instagram post.

In spite of the complications, Chuck still found a way to incorporate his signature sense of humor. He said, “The benefit is I have a flat stomach now, which is cool.”

90 Day Fiancé is streaming on HBO Max and Discovery+.
