Robert Irwin comments on dating

Irwin has opened up about the realities of trying to date while living his entire life in the public spotlight. In a recent interview with The New York Times, the 21-year-old acknowledged that constant attention and online speculation make it difficult to form a romantic relationship.

He explained that he does not present a separate version of himself for the cameras. Irwin said, “I never change what I say, what I do, who I am one bit, wherever I am. It’s just me, and I stand by who I am.”

However, the conservationist noted that he prefers to keep his relationships out of the spotlight. He  said, “Holy moly, that’s so challenging to navigate.” Irwin admitted that navigating dating is stressful when every interaction risks becoming a viral moment. “Anything you do will be on TikTok the next day,” he explained.

In a previous interview, Irwin spoke more lightheartedly about what he hopes for in a future partner. The television personality has reflected on how both his parents and his sister met their significant others. “My mom and dad met when she was this American tourist coming over to Australia, and that’s also how my sister met her husband.” He added that he hopes one day to experience something similar. “I’ve been saying, when is that going to happen for me?!” Irwin said.

The DWTS star was previously linked to Rorie Buckey, the niece of late actor Heath Ledger. The two reportedly began seeing each other in November 2022 and said to have parted ways in February 2024.
