Prince Harry Lost UK Home Over Remarks About Queen Camilla — Sources

Prince Harry’s departure from Frogmore Cottage has been the subject of intense speculation. And now, fresh claims suggest his published remarks about Queen Camilla may have played a significant role. According to reports, King Charles‘ decision to remove the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from their Windsor residence followed deep frustration over comments Harry made in his memoir, “Spare.”

Prince Harry’s memoir remarks about Queen Camilla were ‘last straw’ for King Charles, say sources

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle confirmed in 2023 that they had been “requested to vacate” Frogmore Cottage, the announcement stunned everyone. The decision came just months after the publication of “Spare,” in which Harry devoted extensive passages to Queen Camilla. He allegedly described her in a way that sources claim left the king “incandescent.”

According to reports cited by Express, Harry’s repeated references to Camilla as “the Other Woman,” along with suggestions that she had played a strategic role in shaping public opinion, caused particular frustration. In the memoir, Harry reflects on his and Prince William’s alleged discomfort with their father’s relationship following Princess Diana’s death.

Sources say the tension escalated over a passage where Harry recalls wondering whether Camilla would become his “wicked stepmother,” as well as an anecdote claiming his childhood bedroom was later repurposed as her dressing room. One insider told Express the memoir’s portrayal of Camilla “crossed a line.” They added that King Charles is said to have viewed it as “the last straw.” The same source claimed Harry was aware that comments about his stepmother were especially sensitive yet proceeded “with flagrant disregard.”

Notably, the Windsor property was gifted to Harry and Meghan by the late Queen Elizabeth II. As such, royal historians note that the eviction has sparked debate over whether the move contradicts the late queen’s efforts to keep Harry connected to the royal fold. Historian Dr. Tessa Dunlop suggested the public reacted with a mix of shock and “gleeful.” She described the memoir as a series of “verbal hand grenades” thrown from a place of deep personal pain.

Though Frogmore Cottage now remains empty, the broader rift between Harry and his family appears far from resolved.
