Loyal Radio Andy listeners have been following John Hill on his journey in relocating from Los Angeles to New York City. The singer, radio host, and former lover of Andy Cohen finally made the move a few weeks ago, only for disaster to strike during the Thanksgiving holiday. The building next to his apartment burned down, and although his apartment survived the flames, the smoke caused significant damage.
John Hill was borrowing a rug from Andy Cohen which has now been destroyed
During the Monday, December 1 episode of SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, Andy and John were getting caught up after spending a few days off the air for Thanksgiving. Andy gushed about spending the long weekend in St. Louis with his family. John’s holiday wasn’t nearly as fun.
John explained, “Thanksgiving night, the building next to my apartment burned down, the laundromat, and I got a message from my super saying, ‘Hey, unfortunately, the building next to you burned down. Your apartment was closest to it. We had to break down the door and let the smoke out.’”
According to John, the smoke damage in his new apartment was so bad that some of his items were permanently damaged — including a rug that Andy loaned him. John said the rug turned brown from the smoke, so no amount of Febreeze is going to save that thing.
“If you recall, I lent John a very fancy rug,” Andy reminded the audience. “And then I was like, ‘That’s a pristine rug. It’s so beautiful. You’re gonna mess it up,” and he was like, ‘There already is a little stain on it.’”
“He gave it to me with piss on it, but there’s nothing in the realm of possibility that I could control,” John added. “I was like, ‘I feel so confident with this rug,’ and of course, the one thing.”
Now, there’s much more than a little piss stain on it. The rug is somewhere in the garbage, but fortunately, John does have renters’ insurance. Perhaps he can swing by Zarin Fabrics and get Andy a replacement once that reimbursement check comes through.
