It appears the Sex Pistols weren’t there for their former lead singer, allegedly. That’s according to John Lydon, who lost his wife Nora in 2023 due to complications from Alzheimer’s. The man better known as Johnny Rotten on stage and the famous English punk rock band parted ways in the late 70s.
Over four decades since the original members broke up, there may still be unresolved issues between them. According to John, he didn’t get any sort of sympathy from his former band following the devastating loss of his longtime wife.
John “expected some kind of connection,” but none of his former bandmates reached out

Time may not heal all wounds for everyone. When John announced his wife’s passing, to his surprise, none of the Sex Pistols reached out to him. “I expected some kind of connection when Nora died, but nothing,” he said to The Times.
When his late wife fell ill, John devoted his life to being her full-time caregiver to ensure she was taken care of. The claims made by John come as the rest of the Sex Pistols are touring without him, with former Gallows vocalist Frank Carter taking John’s place in the band. John has called that tour karaoke, which likely isn’t helping him ingratiate himself with his old bandmates anymore.
John says that when he first heard the Sex Pistols were touring, it angered him. He believes they are going to kill everything good about the band. The 69-year-old is not short on criticism of his old band and some of the biggest artists today. In April, he called Taylor Swift dull but added he would be open to collaborating with her.
The Sex Pistols’ only album, released with Johnny Rotten, Never Mind the Bollocks, was certified platinum in the US and double platinum in the UK.
