Pete Hegseth’s comments following the capture of Nicolás Maduro are not sitting well with many. The US Secretary of Defense blasted the Venezuelan leader, using the F-bomb in a recent speech.
While his words are on par with those of Donald Trump, some did not appreciate the words he used. “Pete Hegseth carries himself like a Middle School Bully,” stated someone on X. Nicolás and his wife Cilia Flores are currently on trial. Their charges include alleged firearm, narco-terrorism, cocaine importations, and destructive device charges, among others.
Pete was accused of acting in an “unprofessional” manner
Pete’s message to the Venezuelan leader was abundantly clear. He says that Nicolás had his chance but in his words “He f*ed around and he found out.” His strong words prompted one person to question Pete’s character in his current role, calling him “the most ignorant, undisciplined, and unprofessional man.”
For some, the level of discourse from the likes of Pete and the President is embarrassing. Pete’s harsh words are on par with how he’s behaved in the past. He expressed his dismay with senior civilian and military advisers in the past who have questioned his alleged attacks on suspected drug traffickers in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific.
Nicolás appeared in court on Monday, pleading innocent to the charges against him, adding, “I am still the President of my country.” The capture of him and his wife last week runs counter to the Make America Great Again motto, according to former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Insiders say Pete has fostered a you’re-with-me-or-against-me mentality within the Pentagon since his appointment. He was named the Defense Secretary in January. Pete says strikes against supposed narco boats have only just begun. He adds that narco-terrorists and boats are poisoning the American people.
