Bill and Hillary Clinton are ignoring a subpoena for them to testify before Congress. The former President and First Lady are being asked to speak regarding the Jeffrey Epstein files. While only a small number of those files about the disgraced late sex offender have come out, there have been plenty of photos surfaced with Bill on Jeffrey’s island.
House Oversight Chair James Comer says Bill and Hillary would be held in contempt for failing to appear to testify. The former President and Secretary of State don’t appear to have any intention of complying with the request.
Bill and Hillary Clinton explained their decision to the House Oversight Chair
The Clintons seem prepared to do everything possible to avoid speaking to Congress on this matter. On her X account, the former Democratic nominee for President alleges that their subpoena is illegal. In her letter, Hillary describes a range of actions that she deems as unprecedented and dangerous.
Those actions, according to the letter, include misuse of federal law enforcement and political interference in the Justice Department, among other things. The letter also alleges that James is pursuing a partisan effort that accomplishes little to uncover the truth. They believe they’re being singled out despite supposedly having less direct knowledge than others who’d been subpoenaed and then quietly dismissed.
The letter argues that the subpoena against them is legally invalid and selectively enforced. In this whole matter, Bill seems to be in the most trouble. Last week, it was reported that Hillary was ready to throw her husband under the bus over the Epstein files. It’s also believed the couple may be headed for a divorce after over 50 years of marriage.
For his part, Bill has called for the release of the entire Epstein files despite the fact that many suggest it would do more severe damage to his reputation.
