Tommy Lee Jones Made Drastic Move Right Before Daughter Victoria’s Death

A desperate move, seemingly intended to save his daughter, failed to materialize for Tommy Lee Jones. New documents reveal that the Academy Award-winning actor wanted to be responsible for his daughter, Victoria. She had a history of drug problems, which is why some believe Tommy made a plea to try to look after her.

Victoria was found dead in a San Francisco hotel of an apparent drug overdose on New Year’s Day. She was the youngest child Tommy had with his ex-wife Kimberlea Cloughley.

Tommy tried to be there for his daughter years ago, even filing a court motion to look after her. While his attempt to get temporary conservatorship of Victoria was initially granted in 2023, a judge ruled to terminate that in December of that year.

Court documents list the actor as the petitioner with Margaret Caron Schmierer set to be the conservator. Upon arrival at the hotel where they found Victoria on January 1, paramedics and the fire department performed an assessment before determining she was dead. A representative for the Jones family released a statement shortly after the tragedy, expressing appreciation for the kind words while asking for privacy in the matter.

Victoria had followed in her father’s footsteps, becoming an actress herself. Some of her film credits included Men in Black II, which co-starred her father and Will Smith. She was also in The Three Burials and The Horsemen, among others. Tommy previously called her a great performer, noting that she speaks impeccable Spanish.

A recent photo of the 79-year-old actor prompted many to worry about his well-being. Victoria’s father and mother divorced in 1991, with the actor marrying photographer Dawn-Laurel Jones in 2001. The two split their time between Texas and Argentina.

Victoria had an older brother, Austin, who was born in 1982.
