There may be some stiff competition among A-List actors to portray the G.O.A.T. on screen. Tom Brady previously endorsed a pair of Boston boys whom he’d like to see play him in a biopic about his life. Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg have experience playing professional athletes before on screen, and both grew up in Massachusetts.
Tom knows Greater Boston well, having won six Super Bowls during his 20 seasons with the New England Patriots. The color commentator won seven Lombardi trophies as a player.
Now, there may be a new candidate from California in the running to play Tom.
Could Leonardo DiCaprio play Tom Brady in a biopic film?
It may now be a three-horse race to portray an NFL legend. During a recent interview with Access Hollywood, Tom said that he’d be open to having Leonardo DiCaprio take on the task of playing him.
“I like Leo, man; he’s a special guy.” Tom called the Oscar winner “such a deep, thoughtful guy.” He added that he’d be open to recasting while saying they have to write a good script for him. Leo was born in Los Angeles.
The legendary quarterback was speaking to promote the launch of Fanatics Studio. The current Fox Sports analyst is starring in the company’s upcoming documentary One More Drive. He’s been a part of his share of documentaries since ending his playing career, including the ESPN show Man in the Arena.
While he officially retired as a player in 2023, Tom shared on The Bid Podcast with Shaquille O’Neal that he may unretire. He has twice decided to end his playing career, playing his final three NFL seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There is speculation that he may return to play flag football, which will be introduced at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
In the FX series American Sports Drama: Aaron Hernandez, Tom Brady is played by Ross Jirgl, who appears in two episodes.
