Billy Bob Thornton Reacts to Rumors He’s Leaving Landman

Actor Billy Bob Thornton is clarifying rumors that he’s departing his hit series, Landman. He has starred as Tommy Norris on the show since its November 2024 premiere.

At the end of Season 2, Billy Bob’s character, who was president of M-Tex, was fired by Cami, played by Demi Moore. Tommy then began planning his next career move.

Billy Bob said the rumors that he is departing the show are “AI-generated crap.” In a USA Today interview, he confirmed, “There’s an AI report that Demi and I are a couple now, and there’s one that I’m leaving the show. They have nothing to do with reality.”

Based in West Texas, Landman follows hoodlums and crazy billionaires making fast money in the oil industry. Tommy is the central character determined that his company will dominate with the expanding business opportunities.

The hit series by Taylor Sheridan was renewed for a third season last December, and Billy Bob confirmed he will be on the set as Tommy. “It’s been great working with Sam Elliott (his on-screen father). And I love doing the show. “I’ll be here as long as it plays out. If it’s five years, great. If it’s six, I’m there.”

The next season’s plot line has not been made public, but it is predicted to follow Tommy as he forms his own business. He will partner with Sam’s character T.L., and others to create CTT Oil Exploration and Cattle. Other characters, including Jacob Lofland’s Cooper, Colm Feore’s Nathan, Kayla Wallace’s Rebecca and James Jordan’s Dale will be a part of the new business.

Ali Larter, who plays Tommy’s ex-wife Angela, also is returning to the series.

Landman Season 2 is now streaming on Paramount+.
