Mark Ruffalo Sparks Rumors He Will Run for Political Office

Don’t rule out a political run for a multiple Academy Award nominee. Mark Ruffalo has long advocated for political causes and may want to have a greater say in how they are handled.

The actor set to star in a new Spider-Man movie says a career change like that isn’t in the cards right now, while teasing never say never. Mark was among the celebrities sporting a Be Good pin at the Golden Globes earlier this month. That movement is in protest of the controversial shooting by ICE agents of a Minnesota woman this month. Renee Good was seen as a domestic terrorist by the Donald Trump administration.

He’s called out the current President countless times before. It could soon be time for Mark to do his part to help Americans. Mark has said the political climate in the US right now is unsettling while telling US Weekly, “the people in America are suffering.” For Mark, it’s not just the President who is failing, but both parties.

At the Golden Globes, Mark had some choice words for the President, calling Donald “the worst human being.” Political engagement has long been something the Spotlight actor has championed. While he’s discouraged in some ways about the political climate, there are other things Mark is encouraged about. Among them is the election of Zohran Mamdani as New York City mayor last year, making him the first Muslim to hold that position. Seeing that victory excited Mark about what is possible in the US.

When Donald was first inaugurated as President in 2017, Mark and other Hollywood stars held a protest outside the real estate mogul’s New York City hotel. Mark has publicly called Donald a convicted felon, a rapist and a pedophile. He’s also protested the war in Ukraine and the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Mark will reprise his role as Bruce Banner/The Hulk in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which comes to theatres July 31.
