Jimmy Kimmel Breaks Down Over Alex Pretti Shooting

Jimmy Kimmel recently shared his emotional reaction to the shooting of Alex Pretti. The intensive care nurse was shot dead by United States Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis, Minnesota. During his monologue, the TV host-comedian spoke about the actions of federal immigration agents. He commented on the nation’s ongoing climate of violence and political tension and expressed deep concerns about people’s safety.

During a monologue, Jimmy Kimmel revealed that he spent the weekend looking at his phone, just like everybody else, feeling “shocked” by the Minneapolis situation. Referring to the federal agents, he added, “… One atrocity after another being committed by this gang of this poorly trained, shamefully led, mask-wearing goons. And that is what they are. They’re goons committing vile, heartless, and even criminal acts.”

Kimmel expressed his frustration over how “sickening” it is to watch such videos, in which a fellow citizen is executed. He said it feels as though the public is being forced to watch a game with no rules, one that operates entirely on the agents’ free will.

Kimmel then said that despite Pretti never drawing or touching the gun, agents took it from him before shooting. Further criticizing the administration, he said, “They fired 10 times on an ICU nurse [and] they’re telling us, ‘Well, it was justified.’ Is that the law and order that you voted for, if you voted for this?”

Worrying about the safety of his family, the 58-year-old further elaborated, “Every day is a nightmare now. My wife and I have family in Minneapolis who are afraid to take their kids to school… Is the plan to just keep doing this in every city that didn’t vote for Donald Trump? Does anyone on any side believe this is good leadership?”

The executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live! said that people should at least be able to agree on some basic common ground. He further referenced moms driving SUVs after school drop-offs and nurses, and stressed that none of them deserve to be killed.

Furthermore, Kimmel criticized DHS Secretary Kristi Noem for manipulating the views of common people over Pretti’s death. Therefore, he asked the audience to watch the video, do their research, and form their own opinions without being gaslighted. He concluded, “Where are the reasonable voices on the right? We don’t have to agree on everything, but come on.”
