Jason Bateman is taking some heat online. The actor hosts a podcast called SmartLess alongside Will and Grace actor Sean Hayes and Jason’s Arrested Development co-star Will Arnett.
This week, they had singer Charli xcx on their program to discuss children, among other things. The Ozark star has two kids of his own and has been married to Amanda Anka since 2001. Having a lifelong partner is evidently more than enough for Charli in her personal life right now. The Boom Clap singer said on Monday’s episode of SmartLess, “I actually don’t want to have kids.” Initially, Sean asked why before acknowledging it was none of his business. The actor has no children of his own.
Jason, however, seemed to push the matter a little bit with Charli. He shared that Amanda initially didn’t want kids but says that he changed her mind. “So, you might find somebody,” Jason added. Seemingly unbeknownst to Jason, Charli had married drummer George Daniel last July. Jason went on to jokingly say, “Your next husband, you’re gonna want kids.”
For her part, Charli did say during the interview that she might change her mind on that front in the future. Online, many people spoke up in defense of Charli while slamming Jason’s persistence that she might one day change her mind. Many found it gross and presumptuous for Jason to push her on that matter. Jason has previously said that actress Jennifer Aniston is like a co-mom to his kids.
