The Winter Olympics are so far proving to be more of a Bravo reality show than a major sporting event. Between an ice skater who dramatically won the right to wear a Minion costume, and JD Vance getting booed at the opening ceremony, there’s been no end to the drama at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
And, just when fans thought it couldn’t get any messier, an Olympian admitted to cheating on his girlfriend, not only stealing his rival’s limelight, but thrusting his ex onto a world stage. Now, Sturla Holm Lægreid’s ex-girlfriend has spoken out.

To recap, Norwegian Sturla won a bronze medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics in the men’s 20km Biathlon event. But the moment was overshadowed when he broke down in tears in an interview just afterwards.
“This has been the worst week of my life,” Sturla said in an interview with NRK. He then explained that three months after meeting “the love of his life,” he was unfaithful. As a result of Sturla’s actions, his girlfriend called things off.
So, what does she think of it all?
“[His infidelity was] hard to forgive, even after a declaration of love in front of the whole world,” the woman, who wants to remain anonymous, told Norwegian outlet VG.
Next, she commented on how Sturla’s public confession has put her in a tough spot. “I did not choose to be put in this position. It hurts to have to be in it,” she said. “We have had contact, and he is aware of my opinions on this.”
Sturla, for his part, has since apologized for his outburst. “I deeply regret bringing up this personal story on what was a day of celebration for Norwegian biathlon,” he told NRK. “I am not quite myself these days, and I am not thinking clearly.”
