Padma Lakshmi Marks Daughter’s Sweet 16 With ‘Epic Birthday Week’

Like any other doting mom, Padma Lakshmi also made sure her daughter had a blast at her 16th birthday celebration. The cover photo of the “Star Trek: Enterprise” actor’s February 24 Instagram post showed her sweetly kissing her teenage daughter on the cheek.

In the caption, Lakshmi wrote, “Had an epic birthday week with the Teen. Blowout dance party for her friends, a mom/daughter girls trip in sunny Miami for a few days, and then a birthday/belated Christmas ramen fest with cousins, aunties, and uncles at home in sweats!” She concluded joking that she will leave her daughter alone for her next birthday, writing, “For her 17th year I think I’m just gonna leave her alone! (Her suggestion, not mine. UGH!)”

Krishna celebrated her birthday on February 20. Her mother posted a sweet Instagram tribute that day. The carousel post featured some throwback photos of the teenager from when she was just a kid. The caption read, “SIXTEEN YEARS OLD! Can you believe it? Officially not #littlehands anymore. Happy birthday my sweet girl.”

In a candid conversation with PEOPLE in October 2025, the former Top Chef host talked about her relationship with her teenage daughter. She told the outlet, “We have a good relationship. It’s not without its turbulence, but we’re very frank with each other, and we have a good, open relationship, which I hope continues.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the proud mom spoke about the transformative teen years. She said, “I mean, the truth is, teens are changing and evolving, their personality is literally day-to-day. And so she’ll go to her dad’s and come back, and I’m like, ‘You’re a different person.”
